Spend your days exploring the enchanting village of Clayton and the famous 1000 Islands area attractions, then relax and unwind amid our Victorian comforts.

This 1870s home was formerly owned by the famous boat builder, Captain Simon G. Johnston, is featured on the Clayton Historical Walking Tour, and is located 1/2 block from the St. Lawrence River.

Today the five bedroom home is owned by Bonnie Bouchard and is operated as a year-round Bed and Breakfast, hosting guests from all over the world. Hospitality is bred into the Bouchard family, as half a century ago Bonnie’s grandmother, widow Maud Bouchard rented rooms from her home just 2 doors down the street. Captain Simons Outside of HouseThe Bouchard House, featuring three riverview apartments is also available for weekly, monthly, or seasonal rental. In Gramma’s day guests ate out and shared a bath. Today at Captain Simon’s Bed and Breakfast guests enjoy a gourmet breakfast served on Gramma’s china, silver and crystal. Each guest room has a private bath with showers and old fashioned brass fixtures, pedestal sinks. One bathroom features an antique clawfoot tub. And, of course, all have plenty of fluffy towels.

Comfortable beds are beautifully made with fine decorator linens, down comforters and down pillows. Your room may contain an 8 foot armoire, a brass bed, a marble topped nightstand, and other antique furnishings imported from Germany or France.

The home’s foyer and stairway is breathtaking in workmanship, paneled in beveled oak. Inlaid oak floors and wainscoting on the first floor and hard maple floors upstairs demonstrate the craftsmanship of the day. Birdseye maple pocket doors enclose the round dining room.A pillared mantle and soapstone wood-burning stove adds warmth to chilly mornings, and charm year round.
